Chapter of Old Testament Prophecy of the Birth and Life of Jesus Christ – Yeshua HaMashiach – ישוע המשיח
Line of David Rulership & Yeshua
Micah 5:1-2 KJV:
Written by Micah the Prophet: Sometime between 750-686 BC
The prophet Micah proclaimed some 700 years before th ebirth of Christ, His birth to Mary in Bethlehem.
The Messiah with the birthplace and ancestral home of King David, the prophet recalls and reaffirms the earlier prophecies that the Messiah would come from David’s line.
Micah 5:1-2 1.Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek. 2.But thou, Beth–lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Yeshua HaMashiach ישוע המשיח (Yeh-SHOO-ah Ha-Mah-SHEE-akh) is Hebrew for "Jesus the Messiah.". Yeshua is a shortened version of the name Yehoshua (Yeh-HO-shoo-ah), which means "Adonai saves.". Mashiach is the Hebrew word for Messiah and means "anointed one.". or Y'shua (ישוע with vowel pointing יֵשׁוּעַ - Yēšūaʿ in Hebrew) was a common alternative form of the name יְהוֹשֻׁעַ (Yəhōšūaʿ - Joshua) in later books of the Hebrew Bible and among Jews of the Second Temple period. Yeshua Hamashiach means "Jesus the Messiah."The name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua, which is the shortened form of the name Yehoshua. From this Hebrew word we also get the name Joshua (Joshua 5:15) or Hoshea (Numbers 13:8; Deuteronomy 32:44). The name means "salvation" and is found more than often throughout the Old Testament. Yeshua was a figure described in the Bible. The Tanakh, the Bible of the Jewish people, also known at the Old Testament, is full of proof and promise about a Savior who would come from the line of King David and redeem people from their sin and brokenness. Yeshua perfectly fulfilled over 324 prophecies about the coming Messiah in the Tanakh. Jesus' name from Yeshua Hamashiach got Hellenized from the Greek word " IZEUS " or son of Zeus. This, of course, would be a far cry from proper theology if we took Jesus' name to mean "Son of Zeus.". After all, Antiochus Epiphanes IV desecrated the temple by putting a statue of Zeus within it.
